Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies put in a pleasing performance to lift the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy, after winning 8-4 against Godalming Town at the home ground of Bedfont Sports.
An Ashley Cheatley hatrick, Lavana Neufville and Beth Sheehan brace and a thunderbolt from Holly Isaacs helped The Tangerines cruise to victory.
The opening 10 minutes of the game was understandably a very cagey affair with both teams defending extremely well.
Ashford's first threat came from Neufville with 15 minutes on the clock, Cheatley dazzled the Godalming back line to cross for Neufville who couldn't direct her shot on target.
The Tangerines, inspired by Charmaine Benham, began to take the game to Godalming and when she slid a through ball through the heart of the Godalming defence there was only one outcome when Cheatley latched onto it by calmly slotting the ball under the goalkeeper.
This goal further elevated Ashford Ladies' and saw the returning Sheehan latch onto an inch perfect pass from Cheatley to double Ashford's lead.
Ten minutes after scoring their first Ashford Ladies recorded a third when Benham again, played in Neufville, who's hopeful shot was spilled by the Godalming goalkeeper into the net.
Maddie Bone went close with a long range effort as well as Isaacs whose effort from distance tested the palms of the Godalming captain.
The Tangerines looked to be cruising at this stage but were giving a wake-up call just before the half time interval after a well worked move was finished off with a drive into the roof of the Ashford net.
Sheehan doubled her goal tally for the game and doubled her goal tally in Ashford colours this season, enduring her most successful season in front of goal after fine work again from Cheatley slid in Sheehan for a composed finish.
Godalming hit back with a second but with less than a minute after that Ashford replied straight back.
The second half saw the return of Claire Samuels who had an immediate impact in the centre of the pitch and it was her through pass that was expertly finished in the far corner from Neufville.
Godalming again showed resilience to hit back with a third just before Cheatley really turned on the style.
She recorder her second of the game after a well worked move from Ashford's defensive third worked it's way through the middle third, before finding Cheatley on the edge of the box whose inch perfect strike gave the goalkeeper no chance at all, flying into the top corner.
Godalming again found the net to the frustration of the The Tangerines but Cheatley recorded her hatrick of the game when Benham turning provider again.
Ashford were not done there and Isaacs picked up Benham's initial strike to fire into the roof of the net taking a slight touch in off the crossbar to help it on it's way.
This result capped off a good season from Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies Football Club. It must be mentioned also that the support was brilliant from parents, fans and committee memebers of our affiliates Ashford Town (Middlesex) Football Club.
