Ashford Ladies win against Hackney
By William Boye
Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies were victorious again at The RPS, in as many days, after beating Hackney Ladies 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Tangerines built a good platform going in at halftime 3-0 up after Rebecca French opened the scoring (20) with an effort from outside of the box. Lavana Nefuville popped up minutes later to volley in a second (25) before showing good trickery in the box only to be brought down to give Ashford Ladies a penalty. (29) Laura Huse stepped up and dispatched the resulting spot kick expertly.
The half-time changes saw Holly Isaacs, Dana Johnson, Phoebe Head, Nadia Peters and Gemma Goodwin all introduced.
The substitutes waisted no time in making their mark on the game after Isaacs showed great awareness to first lose her marker then to pick an inch perfect pass into the path of Ashley Cheatley (48) who finished confidently.
Hackney scored a long range strike just before Johnson showed great acceleration to lose her mark on the right wing and cross for Head to poke in her first goal in Ashford colours.
