Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies left Hackney Marhses with a point after a last minute free-kick from Alissa Down.
The Tangerines grabbed an early lead after only ten minutes on the clock, when Ashley Cheatley impressively flicked in Down's corner.
Ashford's lead was short lived and Hackney grabbed an equaliser after the travelling side failed to clear a throw deep in their half. Hackney made no mistake with their finish, rifling the ball into the roof of the net.
The Tangerines couldn't seem to find their rhythm as the game progressed with a number of unforced errors and missed opportunities. Hannah Person came the closest to restoring the lead but saw her well timed header fly over the cross bar.
Hackney were then awarded a penalty just after the half hour mark, Gracie Perkis dived the right way but couldn't keep out the penalty, expertly tucked into the bottom corner.
H/T - 2-1
Ashford created very little in the way of chances in the first half and were equally wasteful with the opportunities that fell their way. This takes nothing away from a defensive master class from Hackney who intercepted through passes, blocked shots at goal and were consistently first to every attempted forward pass.
Ashford looked a shadow of their usual selves and got lucky with an equaliser with only 35 seconds remaining on the clock.
Down delivered in a free kick from deep which illuded the home teams goalkeeper, finding it's way into the near post. A harsh result for a good Hackney side and impressive goalkeeper.
A lucky point for The Tangerines who drop to second in the league with only five league games remaining.
