An Ashley Cheatley brace helped Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies return to winning ways against Kingstonian Ladies at The Robert Parker Stadium on Sunday.
The home side started the better of the two sides, dominating possession as well as the chances created in front of goal.
Kingstonian Ladies however were the side to nearly take a lead just before the break when a speculative long range effort just skimmed the top of the crossbar.
The Tangerines kicked off the second half in inspired fashion when Charmaine Benham, Vicky James and Maddie Bone all seeing efforts go close to opening the scoring.
It was Cheatley however who allowed Ashford to breath a sigh of relief when Lavana Neufville’s smart cross allowed Cheatley to finish calmly between the goalkeepers legs.
A second came very soon after, this time it was Bone who turned provider when her inviting cross again fell to Cheatley who made no mistake firing in.
It was a minute before the break when Ashford Ladies cleared a Kingstonian free kick and a blistering counter attack saw Neufville escape her defender and play in Thornton to fire into the roof of the net.
A positive display from The Tangerines on Sunday after a difficult few weeks.
