Sophie Burgess put in a player of the match performance this afternoon as Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies won 4-1 against Kingstonian Ladies.
Ashford settled very quickly into the game with Holly Isaacs and the returning Claire Samuels creating opportunities.
It was Lavana Neufville who broke the deadlock just before the half hour mark, when Isaacs’ cross was met at the back post by Neufville’s head.
Kingstonians grew into the game in the second half and created a few opportunities of their own which Burgess did well to keep out.
The away side reinforced their dominance when Ashley Cheatley first converted Samara Phillips-Hines’ through pass, before volleying in a great team goal.
Maddie Bone came on in the second half and looked lively. Samuels’ strike from distance cannoned off the crossbar but her effort was matched shortly after by Bone, who found the back of the net from 20 yards.
The home side grabbed a consolation goal just before the break to reduce the deficit.
