GLWFL Division 1 - Result

Ashford Town (Middlesex) Ladies continued they’re unbeaten start to the league season after coming from behind to win 2-1 against Clapham United.

The GLWFL Division One fixture that was played at the cold and windy Clapham Common, was the second time both teams met this season and it proved to be a tightly contested affair.

Clapham started the livelier of the two sides and most likely to open the scoring. Lauren Restel made a string of good saves to keep the scores level but Clapham found the breakthrough seven minutes before the end of the first half with a neat finish into the roof of the net.

H/T: 1-0

Ashford came out in the second half with more of a spring in their step and twenty minutes passed before Ashley Cheatley latched onto Samara Phillips-Hines’ pass and levelled the scoring with a smart finish into the bottom corner.

The Tangerines knocked on the door after the equaliser went in with Lavana Neufville going close and Cheatley seeing another effort just miss the target.

Charmaine Benham was the player this week to steal the headlines however by flicking the ball in from close range, with just ten minutes left on the clock.

F/T: 1-2
